About extractvid
extractvid is an independent, browser-based tool for saving a public video or audio file from a link you already have. It is owned and operated by the extractvid project, a small independent website. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by TikTok, YouTube, Google, Instagram, Meta or Snap Inc.
What it does
You paste a public link. Our server reads the media information the platform exposes, lists the available renditions, and streams the file you choose to your device. There is no catalogue, no search index and no stored library.
What it does not do
- No private, members-only, paywalled or login-restricted content.
- No accounts, passwords or platform credentials.
- No stored media library and no re-uploading.
- No DRM removal or decryption of protected streams.
- No playlist or bulk downloading.
How it is funded
Advertising sits in the side rails on desktop and in a dismissible banner on mobile. There is no subscription, no paywall and no forced ad before a download. If you block ads, the tool still works; we would rather you have the file than the impression.
Limitations
Quality is whatever the source published. Platforms change their internals without notice, so a resolver can fail; region, privacy and licensing rules can also make a specific video unavailable. Use the tool only for content you own or have permission to save, and respect each platform's terms.
